Be Creative and Be Remembered This Year
Experts project that more than 200 million people will watch the 2023 Super Bowl, scheduled for Sunday, February 12. It’s believed that only about one in four who watch the game are football fans. Most people, it seems, are there for the party. Why not be creative this year, putting out a Super Bowl spread that will long be remembered. Here are some ideas to make your 2023 party one they won’t forget:
- Throw a Jalapeno popper cheese ball—Sharp cheddar cheese, fresh jalapenos, bacon, green onion, garlic and cream cheese, all formed into the shape of a football. Serve with crackers, pretzels, pita bread or naan.
- Pull some pork—No, we’re not talking about politics here…we’re talking about slow-cooked, smoked pork butt or pork belly. This is a staple at most football parties in Texas and the southeastern part of the United States, but you can do it anywhere. Smoke your own or go to your local barbeque restaurant and get a few pounds. Your options are virtually unlimited…tacos, tamales, pizza, sandwiches or on top of a tortilla chip.
- Maple bourbon candied bacon—Bacon…bourbon…brown sugar…black pepper. Need we say more? These treats will have your taste buds slapping your brains around. They’re not that hard to make and not that messy, either.
- Cheesy bacon-tater tot pie—Who ever would have thought that those little tootsie rolls of taters that loved as a kid would make such a comeback? You may want to make two pans of this (one to keep entirely for yourself!). You’ll have crispy tater tots, cheddar cheese, sour cream, bacon, mayo, fresh chives and Sriracha for a little kick.
- Loaded tater tot skewers—Imagine a smaller version of a loaded baked potato, but with the crunch and flavor of a tot. They’re a lot easier to handle, too…just pick them up with your fingers.
- Baked parmesan hash brown cups—Hash browns without the mess. Get out your muffin cups, grate some cheese and put them in the oven.
- Chicken fajita queso dip—You can’t have a party without some kind of dip. This one combines all the things you like…queso, fajitas and grilled chicken.
