Plan Now for the Best Summer Break

When you think summer, you think sun, sand, swimming, and relaxation. It’s a time to get away from the stress of daily life, to let the air out just a bit. With a little preparation, your summer beach getaway can be everything you want it to be. Here are some tips for a fun and safe summer outing.

Tip #1—Put Away the Car Keys, If at All Possible

Regardless of where you live, you likely spend a lot of time commuting. That’s exactly what you want to get away from when you head to the beach. Look for a rental or resort where you can walk just about anywhere you want or need to go. You’ll be amazed at how your stress level will go down if you stay out of the car for a few days.

Tip #2—Throw Schedules Out the Window

It happens all the time—you want to get the most out of your vacation, so you make a long list of everything you want to see and do. By the time your vacation is over, you’re exhausted (you need a vacation from your vacation!). Instead, take a step back and just go with the flow. You’ll know when you’ve had enough down time and are ready for an adventure.

Tip #3—Take Time to Connect with Family

When families are at home, it’s common for everyone to be going in a different direction. Your beach vacation is the perfect opportunity to just be with each other.

Tip #4—Get Gradual Exposure to Sun and Surf

There can be a tendency to plop down on the beach the first day and stay there until the sun goes down. Of course, you shouldn’t be outside unless you have proper sunscreen protection, but even if you do, too much time in the sun can really take it out of you. All things in moderation!

Tip #5—Find a Place with Lots of Nearby Food Options

Even if you love to cook, you may not want to spend a lot of your vacation in the kitchen. Look for one-of-a-kind local eateries where you can relax with friends and family at the end of a great day on the beach.
